The Bible clearly teaches that Jesus Christ is God in human flesh (John 1:1-3, 14). In Genesis 8 we find a picture of Jesus' deity on display!
In Genesis 6 and 7 we find the events that lead up to God's judgment on the world and man's wickedness through the world-wide flood. As we get into chapter 8 of Genesis we begin the narrative of Noah leaving the ark after the flood. I want us to look in particular at Genesis 8:1-2 for the picture of Jesus' deity.
"Then God remembered Noah, and every living thing, and all the animals that were with him in the ark. And God made a wind to pass over the earth, and the waters subsided. The fountains of the deep and the windows of heaven were also stopped, and the rain from heaven was restrained." (Genesis 8:1-2)
I've highlighted two things that God did. First, He made a wind to pass over the earth (to help dry it out!) and second, He restrained the rain from falling. Notice God's power and authority over nature - He directs the wind and restrains the rain from falling. Our God is a sovereign God who controls even the weather!
Now let's look at what happened in Mark 4 where we find Jesus and His disciples crossing the sea of Galilee. While they were on the sea, a great storm arose. In Mark 4:39 we read, "Then He [Jesus] arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm."
Again, I've highlighted the two things Jesus did. First, He stopped the wind and second, He calmed the sea. Just as God demonstrated His sovereignty over nature in Genesis 8, we see Jesus Christ doing the same exact thing in Mark 4.
Clearly the Lord Jesus Christ is God in human flesh!
