Welcome to my blog! I've been blogging off and on for quite a few years but this blog is a bit different. This blog is a more personal than some of the others I used to have. Through this blog I want to share different things about my life as a Southern Baptist. I want to share things I've learned, things I'm still working through, as well as brief Bible studies and devotions.
Why the title? The title is a throw back to some of the old Southern Baptist state papers that used to be printed in the mid-1800's. One of those was published by James Robinson Graves and was titled Southern Baptist Review and Eclectic. I liked the title, but decided to revise the name to better fit my blog. I've included the word messenger because messengers are what we call representatives to the Southern Baptist Convention that come from the individual churches. It's also a messenger in that I will share the greatest message in the world, the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. This blog is eclectic in that my posts will cover a variety of topics. So there you have it - that is why I've titled my blog the Southern Baptist Messenger and Eclectic!
On October 27, 2013 I formally joined a Southern Baptist church here in North Carolina. I left my old denomination after much prayer, soul searching, and confidence that this is where the Lord would have me to serve. I may share more of my story along the way as I feel it is appropriate.
I welcome your comments and interaction! Once again I welcome you to my blog and sincerely hope it is a blessing and encouragement to you!
